Generally, the food tenacity and sovereignty are not the prime discourse many people like university students, official government and politicians talk about or strikefor. Even so, the food’s tenacity deserve attentions from people, especially
university students as “agents of change”. Why? Because food is primary needs (dloruri) that is needed by everyone.
Definitively, the mean of “tenacity” is different with “sovereignty”. Simply, for instance, if there is a family doesn’t have the hulled rice and then buy it in the market or indebted to their neighbors to fulfill daily needs, that is said they have the food tenacity. Even so, the family can’t be said has a sovereignty yet. More than
that, the food sovereignty is systematic eforts to determine the foreigh and food necessity independently in the family, such as plant grain, buy and make the price by themselves. In this context, Indonesia recently is still bounding up in the food tenacity, doesn’t have the food sovereignty yet.
It is so ironic, the prosperous Indonesia with its overabundance natural capital is still chained by many cases. The country that is called a part of heaven is too “sexy” and many want to take its natural resources which Indonesia can’t yet or may be there is no aim to be able to manage its wealth. Kind of corporates have lived here,
with illogically profit sharing. In this case, the proletars become the victims of ill-mannered regime and system with all the problematic.
The former minister of economy, Kwik Kian Gie, has written 92% of corporates and country’s assets that is got through nature, have been dominated and controlled by foreigns. Also in the Michael Backman’s research (1995) about market capitalizations, from 300 Indonesian conglomerates, Backman found 73% of market capitalizations is owned by Tionghoa. Not to mention the markets are controlled by conglomerates, exploiter resident’s sweat which suffer the farmers and mongers, grow widely with the government officials as the commander who arbitarily revise the law as it’s ordered. How can people’s economy and food sovereignty be builded?
Islam as the pioneer of change
Islam as an Ideology should has significances as the pioneer of change of sosio-cultural. Againsts and abolitions toward injustices substantially are not the new things, actually. Islam in the classical era have proven how it grows as an ideology which absolve from economy dichotomy, social lameness and human rights butchering. Islam’s teaching is so clear, “Muslims united in three points, the meadow, water and air” it also includes the gold, gas, energy and coal are to resident’s properity. But in fact, those assets go out and suffer native people. Nowadays, just to buy a glass of water we “must” buy it to Western.
The tofu and soybean cake as the important thing to help increasing nutrients for lower middle class are imported, it likes kill the soybean farmers. Million hectares of paddy field are trampled by irresponsible cartels. Every grain of rice we eat is a long process impinged millions of people. Conglomerates ordered media through “poor” goverment official’s help to make public opinion that the food is in short supply, made the import policy was applied. Of course with “the long hands” and global capitalism henchmen who besiege Senayan.
Then, in the Indonesia case, how are our aims movement which are still minimum in laws and macro economy? “To cope and reassure laws, you don’t need the economist. You don’t need linguist. You just need think logically and have strong wills and courages to get the sovereignty, by securing laws and policies stand up for citizen,” said Prof. Maksum, the chief of PBNU, prokesor of agriculture major of UGM.
As the example, in amendment of UUD 1945 33:3 ,”the earth and water and nature capital contained in are controlled by the country and used to citizen prosperities” . clause 4: “national economy is held base on economic democracy with togetherness principle, eficiency of doing justice, continuity, environmentally sound, independent, also keep the balance, progression and national economy unity. Clause 5: “the further provisions about this section is dealt in Undang-Undang.”
By this amandment popped out pro-capitalist laws adversed the country and tormented citizens. Clause 33:3 automatically, have been replaced by clause 4 which is the foreign order through government officials who are the country mortgagor. This change, is logical and reasonable commonly. Although had tested by whom still care about NKRI sovereignty, especially PBNU, the foreigners always change and juggle with words.
Beside that, there are liberal laws foreigners have ordered whih killed the citizen sovereignty such as: oil and natural law(no. 22, 2001), Labor Agency of the Country law (no.19,2003), water resourcing law (no. 7, 2004), fishery law (no.31,2004), invesment law (no. 25, 2007), regional law (no. 27, 2007), mineral and coal law (no. 4, 2009), electric power law (no. 30, 2009), cultural life law (no. 22, 2010), currency law (no. 7, 2011), the authority of finance services law (no.
21,2011), land affairs law (no.2, 2012).
These are the university student’s big duty and project, as the young generation and the owner of this country’s future. The theological base was clear, it’s time to think 10-20 years forward, how to have the food sovereignty; establishing, producing and enjoying the potential of natures by ourselves to prosper citizens which is the mandate of Undang-Undang Dasar 1945. It’s time to open the eyes, discourses, firmament and do things concrete. Students and Indonesia’s young generation shouldn’t fall into pragmatism policy and mislead college discourses. Nonessential and excessive things. Students must do introspection as soon as possible, analyze friends and foes and think well to do changes. Because, if
not on students and young generations, where will the future of this nation be
